Brunch : Jam Filled Croissants
Jam Filled Croissants
COOKING TIME: 1 hourSERVING SIZE: Makes 24 Croissants
Ingredients
- 5 cups of All Purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups of Milk
- 1 cup of unsalted Butter
- 1 Tsp of Jam per Croissant
- A pinch of Salt
- 6 Tablespoons of Sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 tsp of dry yeast
Preparation Instructions
- In a sauce pan add butter, 5 tablespoons of sugar and milk(leaving 1/3 cup for later). Heat at medium low heat until butter is melted
- In bowl add the rest of the milk, yeast, and sugar. Allow the yeast to completely dissolve by stirring it then let is sit for five minutes.
- In a large bowl add the flour allow the edges to create a hole in the middle then crack 1 egg into the whole and sprinkle the salt in. Pour in the warmed milk, sugar, and butter micxture into the flour. Add the yeast mixture next and stir well.
- Knead the dough with your hands until dough is no longer sticky.
- Wrap in a wet paper towel and allow the dough to rise for forty minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350 and pull out a baking sheet.
- Cut the dough into thirds and make each third a circle.
- Flatten the circle and cut into 8 triangles.
- On the fatter part of the triangle add the jam or other filling. And roll the triangles inward toward the point.
- Place each croissant onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet, you should have 24 in total.
- Beat the second egg and brush onto the croissants before placing in the oven.
- Bake for 16-18 minutes.
- Let cool and serve!
